Indonesia is thinking about placing a ban on gay dating apps such as Grindr as part of the country's movement to criminalise gay sex.

According to Newnownext, Indonesian police exposed an alleged gay prostitution ring on their Facebook and arrested three suspects. They're now requesting that the government ban 18 gay dating apps.

The police busted the ring by attempting to set up dates via Facebook and they have now stated that the prostitution ring had 148 victims and 27 of them were teenage boys.

Gay dating apps were also found on iPads belonging to one of the suspects, leading to the police requesting the ban.

This comes after the country announced they're looking to ban gay sex altogether including a lawsuit to criminalise homosexuality in order to "protect the rights of children".

Rita Hendrawaty Soebagio of the Family Love Alliance said, "We see the moral degradation that is happening. This is purely because of our love for our nation, we must do something while we have a chance."
