Masks and Mythical Creatures: Indonesia Independence Day Celebrated with Traditional Dance in Macedonia.

Mythical creatures, warriors dressed in colorful costumes were present at the celebration on the occasion of 71st anniversary of Independence Day of Indonesia. The event was held at the Museum of Macedonian Struggle. Dancers and actors from Indonesia performed traditional dances telling tales of history and mythology of the ancient nation.

The Ambassador of Indonesia to Macedonia, Bulgaria and Albania, Sri Astari Rasjid held a speech to present her country to the audience.

"71 years of the establishment of Indonesia is not only the establishment of a state, but also as a new nation. A nation that is not built based on ethnicity, culture or religion but a group of  people from more than 300 ethnic groups, various religions and cultural background who shared a common dream for freedom, to live in dignity and pursue its quest for freedom, justice and prosperity. "

She added that the county had gone through many obstacles to reach the level of prosperity of today.

"Much challenges and opportunities have been encountered to make up a different Indonesia today compared to the one when it was founded 71 years ago. Through ups-and-downs in its journey since its independence, Indonesia today is commonly said to have emerged in a long term and vibrant process of democratization and still managed to upkeep a nation united in diversity where citizens of various race, faith and creed live together in unity."

Her Excellency pointed that Indonesia and Macedonia have friendly relations since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1993.

"On socio-cultural sector we also witness the increasing number of people to people contact and Indonesia has open its door widely by implementing visa free for short visit for Macedonian Passport holders.  This is exactly how we see our relations with Macedonia: an equal partnership based on trust and common interests; an efficacious blend of political goodwill, growing economic relation and increasing people-to-people contacts. Despite progress being made, much can still be done to realize the much potential in bilateral relations between Indonesia and Macedonia."

Moreover, the Ambassador added that apart from reaching a significant progress, there is so much more to be done in order to use the great potential in the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Macedonia.

The guests had the opportunity to enjoy the taste of traditional Indonesian food.
